I removed my Volks Olivia's faceup because the faceup was done with Freddie in mine but I'm switching the head to be Danny instead. And as I'm searching up photos for inspiration and reference to do his faceup, it seems like most of the photos are older (before 2014 ish). The aesthetics of BJD faceups then is quite different. Some of them are even earlier, from 2009? And thin brows and a brooding look are The Thing to do. I'm filled with nostalgia and the reminder that I LOVED (Loved!) those dolls back then when I was younger and always wanted to have those cool looking dolls. But now the aesthetics of faceups are different and looking at those faceups they seem a bit more doll like and less sophisticated and detailed. And I'm both frigging excited to want to paint danny asap and also frigging scared because I don't want to do something completely like the older style of faceups since it'll not match with my other dolls but I'm scared of trying to merge the old vibe with the newer faceup style and what if it all turns out terrible?

It's so difficult to be simultaneously excited and scared of failing. I just. Ugh.

This probably makes no sense without pictures but I'm on my phone and too antsy to bother putting in pictures and just gahhhhhhhhhhhhhh I don't know I'm just a mess???????

I was really inspired to make a fashion editorial type of photoshoot and also made a video of it :3 The video does have flashing lights/lights that change color so be careful if that makes you uncomfortable.

Migidoll Cynical Ryu faceup

I redid Caillen's faceup before I sold him, and I tried a bunch of new stuff in this faceup. I used mica powder, iridescent paint, and also did lip lines + vertical gloss on his lips. While I feel like there were things that could have been done better, I'm proud of myself for trying new stuff with this faceup. That's something I have to keep reminding myself because sometimes I want to just keep doing the things I'm comfortable with, but that doesn't help me grow. And the thing is, I do want to grow and get better, so it is good to try new things even if they don't always turn out how I hope they would.

I was watching youtube for ideas on get a film photo look on my DSLR, and found this tutorial, so I decided to try holding a plastic cap over the front of my lens today to try it out. I was originally going to pick another doll for the subject but then I figured it would be fine to use Salt even though he doesn’t have a faceup because the set up played up light and shadows instead of focusing on his faceup (or lack thereof). All in all, I’m pretty happy with how the photos turned out :) 

Also, I haven’t introduced Salt here, but Salt is a Switch Sohwa whose neck hole I’m modifying to fit onto an Iplehouse SID body. He’s so cute like this?? I’m just hella biased for this boy haha. In fact, he might be a close second after Sion, which is saying alot.

I can't believe I forgot to introduce him here. Ah. It's been a while, but here's Pepper, my Switch Mocha Ryuzo! He's been around since late last year, and his twin, Tones (Milktea Rose skin Ryuzo) has arrived already lol. Oops. I'm not very prompt with updating.
