Nostalgia

I was reading the threads on doa about evolution of dolls/collections and diving through my photobucket library. Thought I'll share some stuff.

1. Kristolf's wig is getting better now that he has a beanie (or wears a hat when he's not wearing the beanie).



This is what his wig used to look like before I cut it. I really like the colour but it was a Leeke Limited colour, so unless they release it again, I will only have 1 wig in this gorgous colour. Also, he had a different faceup then. Made him too a bit kinder (but wasn't right for the character).


2. A bunch of shots, mostly unintentionally group shots of my crew over the years...oh man, those group shots are bad.
I got my first doll, Gabby, and he had the crappy first faceup I did ._. Oh man. Also, digital camera with super high ISO=grainy photo.


2010 - I got a head (DENNIS :D), and a body quickly after, making the collection 2:D Also, Gabby got sent for a better faceup. (There's a few more of my faceup attempts in between though)


2011 - 3rd doll, Nat! I think this was from box opening and back then I didn't really take group photos of my dolls together cos I kept them in boxes when I didn't play with them, so it was a pain to take them all out for photos.

Also notice how I seriously didn't know how to pose so many dolls...everyone's looking everywhere... (not intentionally!).


2012? I think... - Nat got sent for faceup but I got 2 more...my Miho twins :D :D By now my photograph has actually improved (seriously) but the quality of my group shots is pretty bad compared to solo shots... and I still can't pose too many dolls together for nuts. And horror, I think this might have been taken with my DSLR. o.O Definitely remember that this was a photo taken with bad lighting in the afternoon, though.


2012 - The first proper attempt at a group photo. Also, same spot in my bedroom as the previous photo, haha. I didn't expect them to take up so much space, hence the sadly inadequete "wallpaper" at the back. Also had floating heads but they're not in the shot. And getting *a bit* better with posing more dolls but still...


2014 - The most recent photo of my crew, minus the floating heads :D Most of them look relatively the same, except the twins got new wigs, and there's alot more dolls suddenly because I skipped 2013 (no group shots then, no idea why...school? Probably) And I can still get better at posing many dolls at once (or even just 1), but it's already an improvement >_<'''

On a side note, these 2 have a more complicated story than this, but I felt like taking some loveydovey shots. Sort of, haha. But there's so much more drama before these 2 get together. And Freddie too. Gah. I wish I have the motivation to write their story/draw more of the manga that I planned of this story, but I don't really have the time/inspiration/motivation. :/

Despite the angst in the story, I think they look so cute in this set of photos, haha. Gosh. Caillen and Zeke and Freddie together is probably my OTP. Yesh. 3. A polyamorous relationship. 8D (But Freddie doesn't have her body right now so she can't be in the photos)

Full crew photo and updates

I decided I should take a photo of everyone before I leave for my Korea exchange (starting at the end of this month and until about late December), because I won't be able to bring any of them there, especially not with the amount of drawing things I have to bring for school already. (Oh, the woes of owning only SDs. XD If only I had a tiny...) So anyway, reason aside, I have a photo of everyone! Well, everyone who has a body. I have 3 floating heads (Freddie, my Volks Olivia. Joe, my Esthy Peroth. And my still unnamed Roderich head) who aren't in the photo (because I forgot I can take another shot of the full dolls with floating heads on their laps >_<).

They're pretty much in whatever they were wearing when I just took them out of my wardrobe to take this photo. Gabby has shoes on, which you can't see. He's also the only one still wearing shoes, cos they take up space and my wardrobe already just barely fits all 10 of them sitting inside, so I remove all their shoes if I have time. Nat's in uncolourful clothes cos he was lending his body to Joe for a while (and imagine that, I didn't take photos of Joe during that time...Ehhh D: ), but other than that, everyone's dressed quite in character, and I'm just so so happy to see them all together :D

Anddddd. The cloth to the right of the photo is something I used to use as background when taking photos of Gabby cos I used to use a digital camera and the background would be too messy otherwise. I had to use it for this shot cos 10 dolls take up way too much space. Kind of nostalgic. I have a bunch of other shots of Caillen and Zeke with this cloth cos I took it out, but I'll probably only edit them another time. Haha.

Also, after the bad photo of my unnamed Roderich head (I so need to give him a name. I can't keep calling him my unnamed head DX), I took some clearer shots of his faceup cos I'm pretty proud of it :D







Weeeee. I did the lines more cleanly this time. Usually I paint each hair a few times cos watercolour isn't as dark as I want it to be (especially the browns), so the lines end up a bit fuzzy... this time it's mostly black and dark brown hairs so I took care to get enough paint on my brush so that I could paint each hair in one stroke. I'm still not stable enough with a brush to draw eyelid creases, but at least my lashes and eyebrow hair are drawn better now.

He also has very very faint freckles but I don't think it's very noticeable in photos. His freckles are also a bit bigger than Kristolf's cos I used a different brush then, but it's not too bad so I don't think I'll be going over with more pastel and smaller freckles. His freckles are a bit easier to see in real life, haha. I really can't spot them on these photos, lol.

Have a kinda dark photo of my still unnamed Roderich head. I did his faceup, and I forgot to take photos with nice lighting. (Mostly cos I sent my laptop for servicing and I couldn't edit photos, so I didn't feel like taking photos). I really like how his faceup turned out, but I don't have a clue what to do with him. And he doesn't really fit (vibes wise, rather than proportion wise) on the Granado Nuevo body he borrowed from Kristolf. I'm still not sure what I'm doing with him really, so for now he's still unnamed. Bleh. I feel bad. I've never had a doll unnamed for long (Even Joe, my Peroth jumped from character to character). Mostly because I buy heads/dolls with characters in mind, but this head is kind of just a "I like this head, and I want the body he's sold with my another doll". :/ Ahhhh. He's gorgeous (I really really like the sculpt), but I need a character for him soon.

Box opening - Caillen's body + LLT Roderich

I always wanted to get a Popodoll 68cm boy body, especially for Caillen, so when I saw one in the marketplace, I got it...but it comes with a LLT Roderich head. Which is a sculpt I like (and now that I can see in real life, I really love the nose and lips), and I'm still thinking of what to do with the head now. Ahh, I am still on 3 for floating head count cos of that >_< But anyway, here's a bunch of photos from box opening. I kind of stopped taking photos on this camera after a while...


I actually missed the collection yesterday so I had to go down to POPstation in the morning. It's like a 24/7 collection service from electronic lockers instead of the Post Office. Anyway, that meant I could get my package at 8am instead of when the PO opens, haha. The parcel is bigger than I thought it would be, since I asked for it to be shipped unstrung.


Also, I'm not sure why my address has "Stockholm" in it, especially cos the sender asked me if she had to write "Singapore" twice for city and country...Hmmm. Either way, since this was sent from Stockholm, the postman probably didn't care about that, lol.


After opening the box...


And after removing all the extra foam, bubblewrap, plastic bags etc used to cushioned the edges, you can see the actual bag of parts is smaller. Super secure packing, which I appreciate as a buyer. (But afterwards, clearing up all the excess packaging and sorting them into recyclable piles took quite a while >_< Oh well, for keeping Caillen's body safe, I guess I can do that ><)

And the first thing I took out was the LLT Roderich head :)


This was the faceup he had, but I'm removing it (Actually I already removed most of it, but there's still white residue aka MSC left so I'm doing that again another day). I'm still thinking about what character he fits cos I am really loving his nose and lips. I'm not sure if I like the dreaming eyes but I don't want to mod his eyes either, especially without a character in mind...HMMMM. Still thinking.


Also, his CoA. I never remember how to spell LLT in full...:/ La Legende de Temps.


This was the first part of the body I unwrapped, the middle part of the torso. Look at the number of notches it has. I did however, string him too loosely so the many notches aren't too useful right now. And I forgot to take photos in between, so skip all the unwrapping of the individual parts and stringing (unwrapping took the longest. Stringing was quite fast, cos the channels inside the body wasn't too narrow for my twine to go through)


And a quick comparison of Caillen, Migi modded Cynical Ryu on the Popo 68cm body, beside Zeke who's a Leeke Khal on Akagidoll 66cm body. I didn't want to undress Zeke for this so yeahhhhh.


And look at how smug Caillen is now. Look. Out of all my floating heads who got bodies, he's got to be the one who gives off the most happy vibes now that he has a body. Seriously. So much happy vibes. :D


Also, I made a flower crown a few days back, so Caillen got to wear it for fun.

And this is a shot I took from instagram cos I didn't take anything with my Nikon, but I thought I'll show you the mess after unwrapping (which Zeke was like WHUTTTTTT and Caillen was just really proud of).

(Also, did I mention that the hands are blushed? Yeah, cos they are, and it looks pretty good :) )

Casual doll meet!

I went to a small casual doll meet yesterday organised by MK (lipslock). It was really fun chatting to all of them (we could talk about stuff besides dolls, which is always good) and oh my, all the serious discussion about juices and consistency (ehhh ;) ) Anyway, I realise I don't have individual/smaller group shots of some of the dolls! D: I totally didn't realise it until I edited the photos, which sucks. I didn't take photos of Kris (my Mihael but he's mine so that's fine) and Krios (MK's Resiner, which is D:) Anyway here's the photos :)


MK's Hunter :D (First time seeing him in real life. He's super cool. Also, fist hands and knuckle tats!)


Max (Mouldysweet's) who looks really good with ginger hair too (He's usually blond). And you can't see it but he has a small pony tail at the back, haha.


The 2 Soseos together. We were saying how they look quite different but somewhat equally bored/have a I-don't-care look.


I like this shot of the 2 of them better but Max isn't in focus cos of the angle...


Higeki (Thanat0s on instagram's) looks really sweet and pretty, haha. First time seeing an AA sculpt in real life (I owned an AA body before but I've never seen their heads), and he's really cute :)


Mitchel (MK's) looks really cute and small and grumpy. I swear after all these meets I'm highly tempted to get a tiny cos they're so small. But uhhhh the thought of getting clothes for a new size...and the number of heads I have. I should just admire other people's tinies, haha. Also, he's ginger too! I wanted to take a photo of all the gingers together but I forgot in the midst of the talking. And eating the truffle fries. Mostly talking.


Gabby (mine) with Mitchel cos I wanted a photo of the white skin dolls. Haha. Since they usually appear overexposed with NS dolls. BUT...


Look at this shot, Gabby isn't overexposed! And Hunter is NS but he's not very dark haha. And they both have faceups by propertyoftheuchiha though Gabby's one is quite old so there's a difference in linework etc but they're both really nice faceups. Also, this is just me being amazed by Hunter's lower lashes cos they're really really fine.


As I said, I missed out photos of Kris (see his huge hair?) and Krios (who is even more good looking in real life. I don't know why but I love seeing Volks sculpts in real life cos they have even more "life" to them? I can't really explain, haha). This is the group shot with a mirror in the background so you can somewhat make out us standing in the background and the fries are on the side of the photo too, lol.

It was a really fun meet and I'm just imagining the next meet will be so funny (it's a themed meet, hehe.) But anyway I'll post photos of those when that meet comes around... :D

I took some photos of the twins today, with the new wigs :) Hew was originally wearing the black/olive one cos I ordered that for him, but I realise he suits the blond/brown one better, so I think he's gonna stick to that for now. And of course, Sion gets the colourful wig :D When I first got it I thought a blue based one might have turned out better but the purple is starting to grow on me (I ordered it not realising how much purple I would end up with lol).





As I was taking the photos, I kept having the impression Sion's eyes are a bit wonky but he seems to look alright? I don't know...


And I finally got the hang of styling this wig by the end of the photoset, and Hew finally looks decent, haha.


I think the furwigs are starting to grow on me. I might make this their "default" wig instead of their previous black fibre wig (that just keeps covering their faces).
